‘Praise and blame alike mean nothing...So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or for hours, nobody can say. But to sacrifice a hair of the head of your vision, a shade of its colour, in deference to...some professor with a measuring rod up his sleeve, is the most abject treachery’
— Virginia Woolf, A Room of One's Own

Get a productive, reliable writing habit

This course is for academics who want to accelerate their writing by developing a bullet proof writing regime that will increase their outputs and leave more time for LIFE. Less overwhelm, more systematic and considered writing processes that speed you along from A-Z. Overcome procrastination and perfectionism by identifying and then tackling your writing demons at source. No more evenings, weekends and holiday; just a steady, undramatic and automatic process of writing.

The Framework for Writing Success developed for this course rests on two pillars: the core philosophy of coaching at Academic Coach, combined with the BASE model of writing developed by Helen Sword. Academic Coach draws on extensive academic research into writing productivity, and writing practices, whether creative or academic in nature. The course enables you to develop a method of writing designed to increase your efficiency whilst ensuring you only write in the time you are paid to write.

Testimonials

Academic Coach has transformed my writing practices. The Academic Coach Writing Accelerator Course draws on a range of literature to provide tools and techniques you can use to refine each element of the writing process. The daily emails both support the writing process and serve as a reminder to put writing on the top of my list. The effective, efficient academic writing process brought to me by the Academic Coach has released time to enjoy life without sacrificing productivity.
— Dr Rachel Cahill O'Callaghan, UK Russell Group University
Melanie has designed a no-nonsense, well rounded academic writing course which will appeal to any academic who needs a boost and very practical suggestions on how to carve out time for writing when faced with many teaching, administrative and management demands. The course builds on state of the art research in academic writing across the globe, but is also grounded in Melanie’s many years of personal and professional experience as an academic in UK institutions. In particular, I enjoyed learning about the emotional investment we have in writing, the way to deal with the ‘stories we tell ourselves ‘ that keep us from writing. The emphasis is on making writing a daily routine, however little time we might allocate, and foremost becoming a ‘happier’ rather than merely a more ‘productive’ writer. The daily mini-talks and interactive web-lectures provide a sense of routine that keeps one sticking to their project.
